Corporate Thought Gatherings
Corporate Thought events are borne out of our mutual belief that gathering together, as well as having dynamic engagement and interaction is important. Gatherings are part of our most basic human need.
Our gatherings are about those rare moments where we meet someone or someones who can make a major impact on our business and/or personal lives. We believe a greater experience exists beyond the mediocre speakers using the opportunity to deliver an unwanted sales pitch, and “networking events” (a term we despise) with its inherent superficial exchange of business cards and drinking binges. So, we set out to do something about it by creating an experience where business professionals, entrepreneurs, and the like thrive
Our goal as The Four Horsemen of the Anti-Mediocrity is to create new experiences and opportunities for ourselves and others. We considered what can be improved with conferences, dinners and networking events and seek to create life affirming, business and personal moments, experiences and opportunities. No longer networking events, we want to cultivate spaces and moments where people can get to know one another and share experiences together.
Today, as the world is literally changing by the minute, we recognize that physically gathering may not always be possible or prudent, so we look to technology to provide access to people, ideas and relationships in a healthy and beneficial way. Of course, we look forward to gathering in person when it is again appropriate to do so.
At Corporate Thought gatherings both in person and online, business cards are unimportant and asking or answering the age old question “What do you do?” is replaced with questions meant to get to know one another such as “What are you reading?” or “What is your favorite movie?” or “What are you passionate about”? At Corporate Thought, we don’t cluster with people we work with or who are in our industries. Instead, we gather with strangers from across the spectrum and get to know one another and learn from each other.
We have a few fundamental thoughts regarding business conferences, seminars and networking opportunities: 1) The typical speaker at the podium or panel discussion is out of touch with most business leader’s needs; 2) The smartphone has rendered the business conference even worse, as many of us sit in the back of the room, typing out messages just waiting for the next insipid coffee break; 3) As technology invades our life and becomes ever more pervasive the need for human interaction becomes ever more important; 4) The opportunity to learn from others, especially those outside our immediate industry can provide a much richer and more colorful experience and our best interactions are often with strangers with whom we get an opportunity to learn differently than we experience most days.
