So I am currently attending the Trans-Pacific Maritime Conference in Long Beach, California, usually referred to as TPM. I thought the best way to start was therefore on the general topic of conferences and trade shows. Today’s inaugural topic is therefore: 10 Ideas for Improving a trade conference.
I look forward to reading your answers. My answers to the inaugural question are as follows:
1. Curate the panals to provide a seemless discussion through the whole conference
2. More comfortable seating
3. Provide better food breaks during networking opportunities
4. Use TED style short and pointed talks instead of drawn out panals
5. Eliminate sales pitch type speakers
6. Invite opposing views to provide a more well rounded experience
7. Add a Tinder like feature to conference apps so you can connect with people at large conferences
8. Have conference app create a personalized and shared calendar so people can schedule meet ups, meetings over coffee and the like to an individuals schedule
9. Casual dress instead of business suits
10. Tie in experiences or other unique opportunities in addition to the traditional and ubiquitous golf outing.
