Apropos
Welcome to Corporate Thought. The name is a bit of an inside joke – essentially we abhor “corporate speak” so we meet people rather than “network”; we don’t know what a tiger team is and we prefer you keep your kimono closed! We are in business and occasionally we have to appear “corporate” and we think business and have plenty of “Corporate Thoughts” but we try to do things differently and we think you might want to as well.
We believe that technology is a double edged sword. It certainly makes the world a smaller place and allows us to connect more easily. However, what is the value of those connections. We believe that many of the connections made are superficial, our heads are buried in our smartphones and we are missing truly getting to know one another. This is never more evident than in the traditional “networking event” where the first words out of most people’s mouths is “What do you do?” You will never hear us say that. Instead, we want to get to know one another and share the lives, ideas and aspirations of people. You will find our Gatherings, our Collaborations and even our Spectacles are all designed to get people to develop deep, more personal relationships. In the end, we believe this will make for a stronger bond and business opportunities will flow better as a result.
Initially conceived by Marc Marling, a self-proclaimed recovering maritime attorney (although once a lawyer, always a lawyer), today Corporate Thought is the brainchild and passion project of good friends and business colleagues, each with a varied background and profession. Marc, the lifetime learner, implementer and entrepreneur leads this group of extraordinary thinkers which includes Kisha. the executive pastry chef, business owner and creative extraordinaire setting out new experiences for her devout following. We call this our Council of Jedi Knights.
